Explain why Parliament did not understand the colonists' argument "no taxation without representation."

The reason that the British Parliament was unable to understand the need for representative taxation was due to the fact that they were not present in the colonies, and believed that the colonists were only there to begin with because of the British government, who provided the means to transport.
