When a number is rounded that means it has a definitive stopping point. Once a number stops, it is a rational number. For example, pi is irrational because it goes on forever, but if you round it to 3.14 it can be written as a fraction ([tex] \frac{314}{100} [/tex] and is, therefore, rational.
